We are so honored to be part of the return and evolution of There Were Wires. Casey at Iodine approached us about an exclusive color-way for their new record and we couldn’t say no!! Available now for pre-orders with a release date in June.
Over 10 years ago, as I was getting the Moment discography together, I reached out to Jaime to write some sort of foreword for the packaging. The number of times I saw Moment with There Were Wires in the 90s into early 00s was only a fraction of times they actually played together. As we were reconnecting an idea formed. What’s the next reissue project for me to obsess over? What release did I want in my collection that was never pressed on vinyl? The answer was simple, Somnambulist. On a lark I floated the idea to Jaime. Just like the Moment project, I didn’t expect reunion shows. I didn’t expect any extra effort, other than what the band members were willing to put in on their off time. The Moment project took almost 7 years from initial conversation until release. These are labors of love. The Wires guys were into the idea, but wanted to reach out to Casey from Iodine to get his blessing. At this point, Iodine hadn’t existed in a decade and a half. To everyone’s surprise Casey told us that he had been thinking about bringing back the label and this was the perfect catalyst to jump start it back into being. In 2021 all the stars aligned and a vinyl version of Somnambulist came into being! Then the floodgates opened. Not only did Iodine hit the ground running, but there was talk in the Wires camp about getting together and playing…”just for shits and giggles”. Joe from Purity’s Failure stepped in to replace Don, and what happened was magic. Twenty years after the release of Somnambulist, in 2023 saw the band reunite at a sold out Boston show and premier a brand new song. Needless to say, I am so honored to be a part of the Wires story, and even more honored for it to come full circle by offering an exclusive color-way for their new record “Vessel”. Their first new recorded music since 2003. As much as it feels like the same band we all screamed at in basements, this is the perfect evolution. These are people who spent years crafting music together, finally getting back on that old bicycle and creating something new. Something fresh. So raise a glass, cause we might as well die tonight.
