It has been an absolute honor and privilege to work with Mike on a memorial release of some of Katie’s music. Katie was a staple in the PVD art and music scene. Making music that ranges from folk to doom to ethereal to noise to everything in between. She was also an accomplished visual artist. Sadly we lost Katie to her battle with cancer in May of this year. To correspond with celebration of life events in October, we compiled some of her songs for a vinyl release. Mastered for vinyl by our good friend Matt Desmarais at Angular Studios, we made sure this dynamic record sounded amazing on your turntable.
Side A is Church of Hollow, a doomy and loud full band recording of three original songs recorded by Spain and Katie in the last days of the Squid Amps space in Providence, along with a twangy rendition of Lord I’m Gonna Die.
Side B is the album Earthen Forest which initially accompanied a jewelry release. This was recorded and produced entirely by Katie in her Home, and you will hear the ambient sounds of the city, bird songs, and two tiny dogs.
The Release is Limited to 300 records, in three different colors, with a large print of the lyric sheet originally included with Church of Hollow, and liner notes with an image of Katie on the reverse side. The Vinyl color you receive will be randomly selected upon packing.
